My fitness journey began through running. I enjoyed many different types of exercise like TRX training, weight lifting, BodyPump, and spinning, but running was the thing that kept me going. I wanted to go to school to be a coach, but college turned into a lot more than that for me. My perspective really changed when I started working as a personal trainer in addition to doing movement coaching for worksite wellness at IU. I learned that while exercising in a gym is important, not everyone has the ability, skills, resources, or desire to use a facility. I needed to learn how to design programs in a gym setting and outside it for clients of different ages, ability levels, and with many different goals in mind. I love helping others and working one-on-one with my clients has grown my love for personal training. I have a very client-centered approach when it comes to training because the work we do together is ultimately all about them. I help equip them with the tools they need and supply a little coaching along the way, but making changes is always up to them. Helping people to make lifestyle changes is so rewarding, exciting, and fun; I don't feel like I'm at work at all!
